Finally some good news for all the beagles trapped in labs across the world being cruelly tested on. On April 10th FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary announced a major policy shift. He said that the FDA will begin phasing out animal testing requirements for monoclonal antibody therapies and other drugs. Finally common (and scientific!) sense has prevailed and the FDA are now looking to use human relevant alternatives such as lab grown organoids, AI 3D modelling and organ on chip solutions - all of which have much better outcomes. You can read more about the announcement over at Rise For Animals.
We do need to remember though that the Trump administration haven't agreed to end animal testing until 2035 and 25,000+ beagles are still trapped inside Marshall BioResources and Ridglan where our ambassadog Scarlett Beagle started her life. That's another ten more years of torture.
If you'd like to know more here's an interview with the Commissioner and presenter Megyn Kelly. The extended version is on Facebook.
